Literature Text

There’s a lost soul I know,
Wandering to and fro,
Through the darkness,
Through the light,
Wondering which way to take,
Just tonight,

Smirking at the dark,
Laughing at the cruel,
Crying at the light,
Shuddering with fright,
Wondering which emotion to be,
That’s the key,

Where’s the door?
The door for this poor lost soul?
Wandering so aimlessly,
Trapped, never free,
Reaching towards the heavens,
Crying out loud,

WHY AM I ME?
This is about how most young people feel before they find who they truly are. Seeing both light and dark but not really understanding or knowing which one to go to.

Oh the years of teenage adolescence.

Reminds me of a quote from the book I just read, Chuck Palahniuk's Rant:
"You see, life only turns out good or bad for only a little bit. And then it turns out some other way."

Different observation but of a very similar nature, I would argue. In any case, I think the poem has an insightful message :).
